Frequently Asked Questions
Common Questions About TechShare
Quick answers about who we are, what we build, and how to get started.
What is TechShare?
TechShare Local Government Corporation is a non-profit technology provider that builds integrated justice and local government software for Texas counties. Founded in 2004, TechShare serves 64 counties and jurisdictions — 62 in Texas plus DuPage and Kankakee counties in Illinois — with systems for courts, prosecution, jails, juvenile probation, magistration, and indigent defense.
Is TechShare a nonprofit?
Yes. TechShare is a non-profit local government corporation, not a commercial vendor. It exists solely to serve Texas counties rather than shareholders, and product development is driven by feedback from county partners rather than profit targets.
What products does TechShare offer?
TechShare's core justice suite includes Court, Prosecutor, Jail, Juvenile/JCMS, Magistration, and Indigent Defense case management systems. Add-on modules include the Mental Health Alert System and Public Safety Assessment. TechShare also offers Agenda Management, a standalone system for local government meeting agendas and minutes.
Do TechShare's systems integrate with each other?
Yes. TechShare systems are built to work together through standard APIs, so information entered in one system — like Magistration or Court — can flow to related systems such as Prosecutor or the Public Safety Assessment module, reducing duplicate data entry across departments.
Is TechShare CJIS compliant?
Yes. All TechShare systems are hosted in CJIS-compliant infrastructure, meeting the security requirements for criminal justice information used by courts, prosecutors, and law enforcement partners.
What is your pricing model?
TechShare delivers all applications through a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model hosted in the Azure CJIS-compliant Government Cloud. Annual subscription fees are based on the number of designated user roles per system and include access for authorized stakeholders. SaaS pricing is approved annually by the TechShare Board.
Does TechShare offer 24/7 support?
Yes. 24/7 operational support is included with every TechShare system at no additional cost — it isn't sold as a separate upsell the way it is with many vendors.
Which counties currently use TechShare?
TechShare currently serves 64 counties and jurisdictions — 62 in Texas plus DuPage and Kankakee counties in Illinois. Coverage varies by product — visit the TechShare Participants page for a full, current list by system.
Do you only allow subscribers from Texas?
